We are the Hands and Feet of Christ

During this Covid-19 crisis, you may be looking for ways to reach out to others. In the midst of loss and pain, helping others gives us a renewed sense of who God made us to be. There are several ways you can do your part in making this historic time more manageable for all of God’s children.

1) practice social distancing

It may seem obvious, but doing your part with good social distancing practices, as well as staying at home and wearing a mask (when possible) goes a long way toward helping your fellow man. Keeping space between you and others is one of the best tools we have to avoid being exposed to this virus and slowing its spread locally and across the country and world. Since people can spread the virus before they know they are sick, it is important to stay away from others when possible, even if you—or they—have no symptoms. More info here.

2) loaves & fishes food drive - now through july 31, 2020

One of the results of the COVID-19 pandemic is that local food banks are stretched to the limit. As illness and job loss lead to hunger in our area, the need is great. As July is "Loaves and Fishes" month, the time is right for all of us to help. In the sixth chapter of the book of Mark, Jesus was able to feed 5,000 people from five loaves of bread and two fish.

Inspired by this miracle, St. Timothy and Good Shepherd Episcopal Churches are partnering during the month of July, with the goal of providing enough food to serve 5,000 people in the midst of a pandemic. There are two ways to help meet this goal. The first is financial. Simply donate money to Good Shepherd by clicking here. Click the “Other” category, and list “Loaves and Fishes” in the box provided. Or, you can donate directly to Integrated Family Community Services (IFCS) by going to onecanfeed.org. Both IFCS and Covenant Cupboard will benefit from the food drive.

Drive-by and drop-off food donations
The second way to feed the hungry is by delivering non-perishable groceries to St. Tim’s or Good Shepherd on the last two weekends in July. You won’t even have to get out of your car, just “pop the trunk,” and masked volunteers will gather your donations for delivery to IFCS and Covenant Cupboard. "Pop the Trunk" donations will be received at St. Timothy's on Sunday, July 19, from 12 noon to 2 pm, at 1401 E. Dry Creek Rd., Centennial, CO 80122.

You may also bring donations to Good Shepherd in person on Sunday, July 26, from 12 noon to 2 pm. You won’t even have to get out of your car, just wear a mask, then “pop the trunk,” and masked volunteers will gather your donations for delivery to IFCS and Covenant Cupboard. We want everyone to be safe! Thanks for your help with this Food Drive.
