CARING FOR OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Together We Meet the Spiritual, Physical and Emotional Needs of our Church Community

CONGREGATIONAL CARE MINISTRY
Occasionally we all go through a period when we need a little help from others and Good Shepherd's Congregational Care Ministry is here to provide short-term assistance to members of our congregation. Sometimes it's bringing a meal or helping with transportation to church services, or bringing communion when a member is recovering from illness. Everyone struggles with asking for help, so it's nice to have a ministry of caring individuals standing by to assist. If there are other ways for us to help, we want to know. Many caring hearts make this ministry possible. Volunteers provide

  • short term transportation to church services

  • short-term transportation to doctor or therapy appointments

  • a meal for our freezer

  • home visits for conversation and fellowship

  • greeting cards or written notes.

Would you like to join us or do you need a helping hand? Email us or call the church office.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
In times of stress and trouble due to surgery, illness or bereavement, prayer shawls provide a warm embrace and the knowledge that no one is alone. We wrap them around each other and send them to friends and family all over the country. Can you knit, crochet or quilt? We are always in need of new shawls to bless and give away. If you know of a person needing comfort or would like to help, please contact the church office.

THE MARTHAS
In times of bereavement, the Marthas provide lunch or refreshments following Celebrations of Life or funerals that are held at the church. During the planning process, families are informed of how to work with the Marthas to meet their needs. Women and men who would like to volunteer may contact Jennifer Spahr through the church office.

CHURCH LIBRARY
We have a growing library that provides books about spirituality, church history, and more for readers of all ages. And it includes a jigsaw puzzle section, too! You’ll find the library in the main hallway just beyond the entrances to the Sanctuary. To volunteer to keep our books in order, contact Melissa DeSantis through the church office.

BUILDING AND GROUNDS TEAM
Inside and outside our church building, upkeep is always necessary. People handy with tools, knowledgeable about construction or plumbing, interested in gardening or just wishing to lend a helpful hand are always welcome to tackle planned maintenance or emergencies. To volunteer, contact David McLaughry through the church office.

SUMMER MOWING TEAM
Volunteers who mow the lawn a few times during the summer months, help Good Shepherd save a healthy chunk of change. Contact the church office if you can be part of the team.
