Volunteers Enjoy "Paying it Forward"

Good Shepherd parishioners enjoy serving dinner once a month.

Good Shepherd parishioners enjoy serving dinner once a month.

St. Clare’s Ministries is an open, welcoming, and diverse community that provides physical & spiritual nourishment, clothing and other support to their guests and volunteers in need.  St. Clare’s Ministries gathers at a host church, the Episcopal Church of St. Peter & St. Mary which is located at 126 West 2nd Avenue, Denver, CO. Good Shepherd partners with St. Clare's on the third Tuesday of each month by helping to serve dinner at their location from 5 - 7 pm and helping with clean-up.

Several Good Shepherd volunteers have expressed how much they enjoy the experience of helping others at St. Claire's Ministries.  They speak about the humbling experience of serving others and just how grateful the guests are to have this ministry.  One volunteer expressed it this way:

" . . . everyone deserves a hot, tasty meal; a smile and some kind words . . . we get more out of going than we thought we would."

St. Clare's Clothes Closet

After dinner is served, St. Clare's opens their "Clothes Closet" and guests are able to select free clothing and personal items that have been donated to the mission.

It is only by the generosity of volunteers from several parishes that St. Clare's is able to function.  Volunteers share their time, talents, and money with the guests at St. Clare’s.  In addition to serving dinner, you may also help by donating money to defray the weekly meal costs ($200) or by donating items that will be available for free distribution to the St. Clare’s guests each Tuesday evening.  Items in the highest demand are:  men’s jeans (waist size 30 – 34), socks, underwear, blankets, sleeping bags, and toiletries – toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, denture paste, and deodorant.
