YOUTH

BELONG AND EXPLORE

Good Shepherd offers a space where sixth-twelfth grade youth can belong and explore. They discover who they are, who God is, and ways God shows up in our lives. Come build meaningful relationships with each other and our community. Engage in fun activities like cupcake decorating, art projects, visits to the corn maze and more. Go on mission trips, serve our community, camp, play laser tag, go sledding and more throughout the year.

We embrace the diversity of God’s creation, are LGBTQ inclusive and welcome youth with with special needs. Would you like to know more? Click the button below to contact our Youth Pastor, Sam Carwyn.

Faith Formation
9:20 AM Summer Sundays

10:20 AM Program Year

Meet on Sunday mornings during the main Sunday service in the Youth Room downstairs and enter worship at the Peace. Discuss a variety of topics using the lectionary as a framework, engaging with the Gospel readings and often the day’s Psalm. Join in meaningful conversation, interact with religious art, and build an understanding of the Bible. We foster a space for questioning, reflection and growth.

Serving and Leading

Good Shepherd’s youth are acolytes, musicians, choir members, lectors, prayer leaders, and at times, preachers. Good Shepherd offers interested youth many more opportunities. Just approach Sam Carwyn or church leaders to discuss options and any needed training.

Confirmation

Youth ages 15 and older who are ready to take the next step in their faith journey are invited to participate. Classes take place in the winter either at the church or through the diocese based on participant availability. Confirmation usually takes place each May at St. John’s Cathedral in Denver.

JOIN YOUTH AROUND
THE DIOCESE

Good Shepherd Youth gain friendships, unforgettable experiences and grow spiritually through Diocesan offerings.

Summer Camps
at Cathedral Ridge

Cathedral Ridge, our diocesan retreat and camp center in the Colorado mountains near Woodland Park, offers summer camps where youth grow spiritually and personally in a supportive mountain community. Middle School and High School Youth Camps are designed just for those age levels while Creatives Summer Camp, welcomes a broad age range, letting campers express themselves creatively through a track in choir, art, or robotics collaborating with peers who share their interests. All camps include classic summer activities: campfires, outdoor games, hikes, rope course challenges, and community building experiences.

Go to the Cathedral Ridge website to learn more and register.

Youth Gatherings

The Episcopal Diocese of Colorado brings together youth across the state to grow spiritually and explore faith through personal reflection, and build deeper relationships with God and one another. Planned by youth, each experience combines worship discussion, fun and community in ways that are authentic and memorable.

Quest: Hosted at Cathedral Ridge for a weekend in the Fall, youth worship, play games, discuss timely issues, and grow in community with up to one hundred students. Youth explore how faith connects to the everyday realities of being young while building friendships and growing in confidence.

Spring Overnight: Up to fifty students from the across the diocese get together for connection, formation, and fun. They explore Bible basics, learn why context matters, and discover their own entry points into scripture. The weekend includes games, movies, snacks, worship and time to build friendships and community.

YES
Young Episcoplians in Service

YES trips provide opportunities for service pilgrimage, leadership development and adventure. These experiences help young people build community, deepen their faith, and discover God in new places through service, reflection, and shared experiences.

One Day Mission: On a Saturday in the early Fall, youth and their leaders from around the diocese come together for a half day of service and fellowship followed by a shared meal.

This year, YES offers youth both a service and a pilgrimage trip in the summer. Trips are announced by October 1 and require registration around December 1.

YES Service Trip (June): Participants travel to locations around the United States for an immersive experience to serve and learn alongside communities beyond their own. Youth engage in hands-on service projects while exploring themes of social justice, teamwork, leadership and faith in action.

YES Pilgrimage (July): Students are invited into a themed pilgrimage experience centered on creation, community, leadership and adventure. Youth explore what is means to be an empowered disciple in today’s world while engaging deeply with Episcopalian traditions, spiritual practices and community life.
