Reaching Out in Love through Christ

Good Shepherd's Outreach Ministry strives to reach out in love through Christ to serve our neighbors by providing humanitarian services and financial assistance to those in need. The Outreach team is very hardworking and dedicated, and we welcome new volunteers to our team.  We have worked together to serve the needs of community through many non-profit groups, thereby directly impacting the lives of those in need.

Join us in our ministry to reach out to others in need by donating your time as a volunteer for one of our projects below, or even better, by becoming a member of the Outreach Committee which meets the first Tuesday of every month.

In-gatherings

We sponsor in-gatherings of goods needed by our outreach partners including food and canned goods for Covenant Cupboard Food Pantry, gently used clothing needed by St. Francis Center and St. Clare’s Ministries, and diapers and women’s feminine products needed for The Crisis Center and House of Hope, shelters for women. Other recent in-gatherings include food and school supplies in-gatherings for Integrated Family Community Services, a diaper drive for Hope House Colorado, and collecting toiletries for the Rose Andom Center.

Angel Tree project

We have an annual all-church project providing Christmas gifts for children, families and seniors in need. We hang paper ornaments on a Christmas tree with gift requests from needy families. We invite parishioners to pick one or two from the tree and bring the gifts back to Good Shepherd unwrapped. This is when we need a force of volunteers to help organize and prepare the gifts for distribution.

Birthday Bags

We provide birthday bags for Covenant Cupboard. The birthday bags are for children under twelve whose families come to the food pantry.  Each bag has the materials for a small birthday celebration for the child.

Community Projects

We go out into the community with various projects to help those in need.  We have served meals at senior centers, visited different charities and spent time cleaning churches, filled bags of rice for families experiencing hunger, distributed blankets and distributed winter clothing. We have also organized groups of parishioners and friends and family to engage in various community walks for charitable organizations over the past few years. We welcome help organizing these projects and field trips and encourage ideas from our congregation on how we can serve others.

Join us for our monthly meetings, the first Tuesday of each month, from 6:30-7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome.
