35 Years and Going Strong

The Good Shepherd Men’s Group has been active for over 35 years.  We currently have approximately 38 members and average about 15-20 at our meetings.  We welcome adult men of all ages to join us as part of our family. Our group is built on three principles; prayer, study, and service.

prayer

The group prays for its members, the Good Shepherd church family, any special requests and the Episcopal Church.  We have created an extensive E-mail system to send prayer requests and keep in touch.  We will lay hands on and pray for individuals and/or situations in our meetings as appropriate.

study

We meet at 7:30 am on two Saturdays a month. Each Saturday meeting begins with food and fellowship:  a full, cooked breakfast is served on the second Saturday of the month, and the group is currently meeting online via Zoom on the fourth Saturday of the month. Following this food and fellowship time, at 8 am, we move into the Chapel for a 60-minute program, which alternates between thematic, scripture-based studies, studies of the readings for the upcoming Sunday Eucharist, or special programs of interest.

service

In service we host the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, the annual Church picnic (with help from the Youth Group, and the Sunday school program), and help with maintenance at the church.  We work with Covenant Cupboard (a local Food Pantry to help families) and the St. Clare’s ministry (at St. Peter’s and St. Mary’s Church) feeding a meal to people weekly.
