Grow With Us!

At Good Shepherd we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate and experience spiritual growth in a loving, supportive, Christian community. We strive to build community through education programs for children, youth and adults. We also sponsor ministries that provide pastoral care and prayer support, and foster relationships across a wide spectrum of ages and interests.

Our community-building efforts include a variety of fun events for the entire community such as the Parish Advent Party, the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, the Maundy Thursday Dinner, the Summer Picnic, and the Pumpkin Patch off-load and chili cook-off. We also offer a vibrant Youth and Family Ministry Program which includes weekly youth group and Sunday School, yearly retreats and service trips for youth, and quarterly fellowship, education, and outreach events that are of interest to young families.

Current Opportunities to Grow in Faith Through Community:

  • Monthly “X Marks the Spot” informal social gatherings at local pubs and restaurants
  • Family Ministry Program (fellowship and outreach events for young families)
  • Congregational Care (meals, transportation, support for parishioners in need)
  • New Member Ministry (quarterly events to welcome newcomers)
  • Regular all-parish fellowship events
  • Monthly “Hungry Flock” dinner groups
  • Men’s Group (meets twice a month)
  • Prayer Chain
  • Sunday Refreshments
  • Middle and High School Youth Groups

Education/Faith Formation

Another important way that we grow together in faith is by sharing the story of God's love in scripture and tradition, and by exploring the riches of the Christian life through a variety of programs for children, youth and adults, such as Sunday School for children age 3-5th grade, weekly youth group Bible studies, Sunday morning education classes (Faith Forum and Rector's Forum), week-day Bible studies, book studies and small groups (Monday and Tuesday mornings, and Friday afternoons), adult inquirers classes (Episcopal 101), Education for Ministry (EFM) groups and adult catechesis (confirmation program).

See the Adult Education page for information about Sunday morning education programs for adults, the Sunday School page for information about Christian education for children, the Youth Ministry page for information about education programs for youth, the Women's Ministry page for information about education programs for women, and the Men's Group page for information about education programs for men.
